Swig Review

Caroline Krauch | Sports Editor October 30, 2024 2 minutes read

To have customers lined up for hours is a testament to any business, but to have a line that long for drinks alone is something that shocks me.

Swig is a drive-thru soda shop chain based in Utah that now has a location open in Indiana with another one on the way. It claims to be the “Home of the original dirty soda,” which is soda that has a splash of cream and flavor in it. Swig offers a variety of drink options including soda, water and energy drinks with a plethora of flavors for customers to choose from. There are also snacks on the menu including pretzel nuggets and mini cookies. Customers can create a custom mix of their own or choose from one of many on the Swig menu.

In the first few days of business, before the store had even officially opened, there was a line that took hours to get through. When I went, the line was not hours long, but it did take a while to get through. The line was past the length of the building and around other buildings’ parking lots in the area. It took around 20 minutes to get to the point where we ordered. When we finally ordered, a girl came out to our car window and took our order with a tablet. My friend and I both ordered something from the menu and customized them further, a Raspberry Dream with Diet Dr. Pepper with vanilla cream opposed to coconut. We also placed separate orders which was not an issue for them.

When we finally got our drinks, they had forgotten to substitute one of the ingredients in the drink. That did not ruin it, but it did alter my impression of the store. The overall quality was good and the line ran smoothly. It did take awhile, but there was only one girl taking orders and one window for people to receive their drinks. For someone who likes soda and fun drinks, this place is definitely worth a try. My recommendation would be to wait while the excitement dies down because while the drinks are delicious, it is not worth an hour-long wait. With the second location just opening, there should be less of a crowd, as people now have two options to bring their business to.
