The Hamilton County Democratic Party filed a complaint with the county’s election board early this morning, according to FOX 59. The complaint stemmed from several voting locations in the county that allegedly opened later than expected Tuesday morning. The Hamilton County Election Board said that the affected sites closed due to a glitch in the machine’s coding and that the issues were resolved quickly.
Local voting sites did not open until 6:30 a.m., Hamilton County Democratic Party Chair Jocelyn Vare said in the party’s filed complaint. FOX59 reports the polling locations affected were College Park, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Carmel Water Distribution, the Billericay Park Building, Fishers’ Northview Church and the Meeting House at West Clay.
The Indiana Democratic Party said in a statement that hundreds of voters waited in line at the sites while the issue was occuring. However, the party said many left for work or other reasons due to the later openings. Vare said the party wanted all eligible Hamilton County voters to be able to participate, and for some, it was harder or impossible for them to participate.
