GLVC announces changes to its basketball postseason format

Giselle Valentin | Sports Editor February 9, 2022 1 minute read

The University of Indianapolis men’s and women’s basketball teams are going to see a new format in the GLVC Tournament, according to a press release by the GLVC. The conference is changing from an eight-team field to a 15-team format for the 2021-22 season, according to the release. The quarterfinals, semifinals and championship games will be held at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Il., from March 3-6.

The GLVC also stated that games postponed due to COVID-19 and other factors are allowed to be made up as long as both schools agree. This change has allowed UIndy to reschedule games, such as McKendree for the men’s team Feb. 14, Missouri S&T Jan. 24 for the women’s team and Lindenwood for both teams Feb.7, according to UIndy Athletics.

The men’s team record currently stands at 11-6 , while the women’s team holds a 7-11 record.
