The Garage Food Hall Review

Brid Peoples | Staff Writer September 27, 2023

When a friend of mine suggested going to The Garage Food Hall for lunch, I knew nothing about the place or its reputation. The Garage Food Hall, located on 906 Carrollton Ave, was recently awarded second place on USA Today’s Readers’ Choice Awards for 2023. In my opinion it deserves all of its accolades.

As the car my friend drove us in pulled up, what immediately caught my eye was just how enormous The Garage is. When I walked in, I was almost overwhelmed by the choices. With over 20 vendors, it is the biggest food hall I have ever been to, and the range of cuisine is truly international. There is a choice from classic American diner food, traditional British fish and chips, Mexican and Asian cuisine.

I wasn’t feeling too hungry so I decided to go for Mama Fofo’s, which specializes in fan-favorite Greek dishes. The number of options on the menu was impressive, and I had a traditional gyro and a coke. Although the food was delicious, it cost me a pricey $15. I went on a Saturday in the mid afternoon, so the place was quite busy, but I didn’t have any trouble finding a table.

The atmosphere was unique and charming, with several bar and pub areas for anyone over the age of 21 to enjoy a drink if they wished. The interior was very nicely decorated with trendy lighting and seats. There were quite a few families, so the Food Hall is welcoming to a wide range of customers and experiences.

However, if you are looking for a more late-night atmosphere, there is live entertainment every Saturday evening according to The Garage’s website, with music from local DJ’s and also live acoustic acts. There are also several events, such as a movie night and trivia night offered every Monday evening.

I loved the food and overall environment, so I would definitely return to check out some of the different food vendors. Although it was a bit expensive, I feel like it is worth the price and I would recommend The Garage to anyone around the city interested in European or Asian cuisine. Overall, I would give The Garage a 4 out of 5 stars.
