>> On Sept. 12, former UIndy student Addie Kosten released her first EP, “Orange Willow.” Since then, she has become No. 1 on Reverb Nation’s Singer/Songwriter charts in Indianapolis. This three song EP does a great job of showcasing Kosten’s versatility and multiple talents. The song “Oyster” is about her decision to be an independent artist instead of trying to get signed to a major label. It is an upbeat tune, with a strong piano and drum syndication driving the song and low-playing violin in the background. At the end of the song is a surprise from the trumpet, which gives the piece New Orleans jazz sound. “Two Feet,” the next song on the EP, is about a girl finding the courage to leave a relationship that is no longer beneficial. “Two Feet” has a sound that shows off Kosten’s vocal range.
