Season 3 of the Netflix show Outer Banks was released on Feb. 23. In previous seasons, the show has followed a group of teenagers through their adventures of trying to find a treasure. This season picks up on an island with the Pogues: John B (Chase Stokes), Sarah (Madelyn Cline), Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), JJ (Rudy Pankow) and Cleo (Carlacia Grant). This season felt different from the past two seasons because they were on separate adventures for most of the show. The camera quality was different too, and the way it was filmed differed from the previous seasons.
The acting and entertainment were there and there were a lot of funny moments throughout the season. On the other hand, I think the pacing could have been better, as it felt sped up and did not give ample time to properly develop the plot. I wanted to see more of the characters that are most known like Sarah, JJ, Kiara, Pope and Cleo, but this season was mostly filled with Big John and John B.
The way the whole season was filmed made it seem like someone was always watching them, and I know a lot of my friends didn’t like that. As an Outer Banks lover, I was thrilled when the new season came out. I watched all 10 episodes within two days, but I felt disappointed because the season did not live up to its hype in my opinion. I found myself getting annoyed with Big John (Charles Halford) because he only seemed to care about himself. The show favored Big John rather than the teenagers like the other seasons did. It is an adventurous show that follows both adventures they are on, but overall, there could have been a better way to film the season. Without giving too many spoilers, the final episode of the third season felt rushed to get to the ending where they found the treasure they were looking for. The whole season was about them finding clues to get to the treasure and it only was in the last episode for around 10 or 20 minutes.
