The Marshall Mathers LP 2

Posted on 11.20.2013

I loved Eminem before I realized what half of the words in his songs were, so naturally I went “berzerk” about his new album “The Marshall Mathers LP 2.” True to his style, Eminem does not disappoint. His songs not only delight musically, but they also show a much more mature rap god.

Eminem no longer relies on his alter ego, Slim Shady, or crude humor to make a song hilarious. He also has a more classic hip-hop style in some of his songs, such as “Berzerk.” As Eminem usually does, he puts songs on this album that make you laugh, but also make you cry. Have a box of tissues nearby when “Headlights” comes on; the song he made as an apology to his mother.

This album shows Eminem is a more mature man, and his rap has become better with age without giving up who he is at heart. The album gives a nod to the fans who have been with him since the beginning, but also lets new listeners know who he is. This superb album is not only brilliant, but funny and heartbreaking all at the same time.
