Country Music Awards
Country music’s superstars had a smashing night at the CMAs. Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line kicked off the night with their hit songs “That’s My Kind of Night” and “Cruise.” The overall performance felt more pop than country—instead of men in cowboy hats and blue jeans, it was men in sparkly shirts and scarves. After the lively performance, co-hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley came out using their wit and charm with jokes about Miley Cyrus, Obamacare and a new version of “Blurred Lines” called “Duck Lines.” The night was full of great performances by Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Eric Church and many more. It was no surprise that Florida Georgia Line took home Single of the Year and Vocal Duo, and there was also a beautiful tribute to Taylor Swift, awarding her the Pinnacle Award. Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert proved to be an unstoppable couple once again, taking home Male Vocalist of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year. After a night of great performances, the show ended with George Strait receiving the biggest honor in country music, Entertainer of the Year.
