Dr. Linda Rodebaugh

Q.) When did you attend Indiana Central College and what was your degree(s)?
A.) ASN (Associate of Science in Nursing) 1974; BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) 1976; Note that when I attended ICC, the nursing program was a 2 + 2 format, meaning that all nursing majors went through the ASN program first, then took the licensing exam to become an RN.

Q.) What have been the most drastic changes around campus?
A.) Changes in campus buildings! Warren Hall was New Dorm; Krannert was Cravens. Trimble Hall, Dailey Hall, Buxton Hall, and one other men’s dorm don’t even exist anymore. My nursing class was so big that the only space large enough to hold all of us was the former Recital Hall located in Good Hall.

Q.) What was the food like here when you attended?
A.) The famous Freshman 15 existed back then too, so perhaps one could say not a whole lot has changed. I remember they used to have a donut maker and would make the best fresh donuts for breakfast.

Q.) How big were your class sizes?
A.) My nursing class started with 123 students and we graduated with 88. Because of the way our classes had to be scheduled to work around clinicals, we were in nearly all of our classes with the same nursing students and unfortunately didn’t get to meet many students outside of the nursing major in the ASN program.

Q.) How has the technology changed?
A.) There is no comparison! Computers didn’t exist; we only had calculators. It was pretty unheard of to have a TV in your dorm room. You could pay to have a phone installed and pay the monthly phone bill. Of course there were no cell phones, etc.
Q.) What is a piece of advice you have learned and want to pass on to fellow greyhounds?
A.) Enjoy your time as a college student. Study hard and learn what you can from your professors.

Prof. John Price

Q.) What years did you attend Indiana Central College?
A.) I received my Associates Degree in 1982 and now I teach at IUPUI and the University of Indianapolis.

Q.) What was different then compared to now?
A.) The administrative building was in Good Hall, the parking was where the canal is and the library wasn’t built. It was located in Esch. Between Schwitzer and Lilly were dorms. Schwitzer was not as nice as it is now.

Q.) What were some social differences around campus?
A.) I was a non-traditional student taking classes at night and I attended through the American Institute of Banking, which paid for my tuition and books. The bookstore used to get your books for you according to your class schedule.

Q.) What do you think have been some of the most prominent and rewarding changes?
A.) I believe it is the growth in the student body and building programs such as Martin, the library and Schwitzer center.

Q.)What do you miss most about Indiana Central University?
A.) I still attend college even as a teacher and I realize I will always be a student and always be learning something new everyday.

Q.) If you could go back in time and bring one item back from ICU, what would it be and why?
A.) The old computer in the basement of Good Hall; it was the size of a desk. We had to use IBM punch cards.

Q.) What were some technological differences and how were the class sizes different?
A.) Classes were large; there was no technology, not even calculators and we had to do everything manually. The classrooms were much larger than they are now. Also, we had to take a short hand writing class, which isn’t required now.
