5TH SPOT • ‘Lopez Tonight’
By Micah McVicker | Editorial Assistant
Late night shows like “Lopez Tonight” are a crowded genre. Lopez airing his show on TBS means nothing. The show nowhere near matched the hype it was given. His first show headlined Kobe Bryant and Eva Longoria Parker as guests. That’s not “bringing the party to late night,” specifically 11 p.m., because there’s no originality with celebrities and athletes. I’d rather watch “The Colbert Report,” or “Family Guy” reruns. Ultimately, Lopez didn’t do enough to separate himself from other late night talk shows. Plus, his stand-up is weak. “Lopez Tonight” had me longing for original episodes in his sitcom, cancelled by ABC. Don’t waste your time here.
