Self described as extremely busy, studious, and enthusiastic, junior Chelsea Anderson, in the eyes of her peers, friends and professors, is truly a shining star on the University of Indianapolis campus.
“She is willing to take on huge responsibilities and actually relishes the challenges. She does everything she is asked, usually identifies things that we haven’t thought of, and then goes above and beyond the call of duty,” said Brad Wright, associate professor and director of theatre.

Anderson, a 21-year-old theatre major and business administration minor at UIndy, works tirelessly as a full-time student but also has taken on extra theatre department responsibilities. She has worked as back stage crew, master electrician, stage manager and assistant director, among other things.
Anderson has been on stage in six UIndy theatre productions  and helped in other capacities with six additional shows.

“I like to keep busy,” Anderson said. “Even though it’s a lot of work, I feel that if you are passionate about what you’re doing, your life will be a lot more fun. I love every minute of it.”

Anderson also is currently the student manager of Ransburg Auditorium.

“The department could not operate without Chelsea’s expertise, commitment and hard work [managing Ransburg Auditorium],” Wright said.

Ultimately, Anderson has some lofty life goals. She would love to get a master’s degree in theatre directing and then own a theater in Chicago.

“ I try to keep a positive attitude and really just go for the things I want in life,” Anderson said.

Currently, Anderson is directing a student-directed production that opens April 22.  Next fall she is hoping to do a senior project.

“It would be great to really leave my mark on the school,” Anderson said.

Wright described her as a friendly, personable young woman  who is willing to go beyond what is asked of her and always keep a smile on her face.

“I can think of no one more deserving of this recognition,” Wright said.
