Book • Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

”It a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains.” So begins Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, a ‘remix’ of a revered classic attributed both to Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith. Smith cleverly takes Austen’s story of manners and adds mirthful scenes of zombie mayhem. To read Austen’s original classic and this new version side-by-side is an absolute joy. The Bennett sisters go from five unmarried daughters to five unmarried daughters trained in the ways of ancient martial arts. The book includes illustrations full of zombie goodness. Some may say Austen will be rolling in her grave, but I’m guessing she may just burst out of it.
