Battlestar Galactica • Television Show

Posted on 03.04.2009

As “Battlestar Galactica” ends its course on television, it remains an example of excellence in science fiction. The remake of the 1970s cult classic has eclipsed its forbearer, offering a gritty and unromantic vision of science fiction not often seen. The story revolves around the rag-tag fleet formed by the 50,000 survivors of a nuclear apocalypse. The refugees are relentlessly pursued by their robotic adversaries, the Cylons, who look, feel and act human. This formula has allowed the show’s creators to deal with several relevant topics such as abortion, terrorism, torture, politics and what defines us as humans. The show has received numerous awards for writing and special effects, including a Peabody Award in 2006.
