The University of Indianapolis men’s basketball team (9-14, 4-10 GLVC) heads into the last four games of the season, all of which are against Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division opponents. If the Greyhounds can string together some late season wins, they have a chance to make the conference tournament.

UIndy headed to Illinois Feb. 12 to take on the Lewis University Flyers. The Flyers defeated the ‘Hounds previously this season on Jan. 24, 86-60.
On Feb. 12 though, the ‘Hounds defeated the Flyers in a close contest, 70-67. Going into the half, UIndy held a tight four point lead. The ‘Hounds managed to hold on the lead throughout the rest of the game to win.

“We are starting to pull it together,” said senior guard Tyke Cockerham. “We had some big wins and are really trying to carry that over.”

The ‘Hounds lost a close contest to nationally ranked Northern Kentucky University 67-80 on Feb. 7. Led by Tristan Rogers’ 24 points and 14 rebounds the ‘Hounds were within one point in the second half, but the No.  7  Norse proved to be too much toward the end of the game.

“It seems like every other game we are playing a top 25 team in the nation,” said senior forward Braxton Mills.
Both Mills and Cockerham said the two games that the men’s team is really hoping to build on are back to back double digit wins against GLVC East opponents the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and Saint Joseph’s College.

The ‘Hounds defended their home court against the Saint Joseph’s College Pumas on Jan. 31. Mills had a team-high 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Greyhounds to an 81-68 victory.

UIndy picked up its second conference win on Jan. 29 by defeating Wisconsin-Parkside 89-71.

Two of the five remaining games  for the ‘Hounds will be re-matches against Wisconsin-Parkside and Saint Joseph’s.
“With some luck we could still make the conference tournament,” Cockerham said. “We need to take care of our part, and if we do we can still make it.”
