It’s not me, It’s you • Lily Allen
5 out of 5 stars.
With lyrical subjects ranging from materialism to sex to religion, Lily Allen’s sophomore album repeats some of the signature cursing and boldness from her first album and adds electronic beats and deeper lyrical content.
The first single, “The Fear,” satires fame and society with techno beats and jabs at tabloids.
“Not Fair” showcases Allen’s ability to mix humor and sincerity when talking about sex and relationships. One of the best tracks on the album, “22,” combats chauvinism with lyrics about female expectations in society.
Overall, Allen is obviously in no sophomore slump. Her album shows growth, while still displaying her unique personal style.
