At the end of the 2008-09 fall season it was announced on Dec. 29 that the men’s golf team is ranked sixth in the nation. With a 286.4 average strokes-per-round average, the team is now third in Division II.

“We are ranked so highly simply because we have kids that take pride in what we are doing and want to work hard to achieve our goals,” said head coach Brent Nicoson.

The UIndy men’s golf team also has the lowest average throw-out score of 75.69 and is the lowest among top-ranked Division II schools. The team also came away with four title wins, which included the Great Lakes Fall Regional win.

“We go to every tournament with an attitude that we will win,” Nicoson said. “They are very confident in their abilities. I am as well.”

Three members of the UIndy golf team walked away with five individual titles. The members included senior Justin Hueber, junior Seth Fair and freshman Aaron Monson. They are listed among the top 250 players in the nation, Hueber at 13th, Fair at 98th and Monson at 243rd.

“I am very proud of Justin but am more proud of having three of our players in the top 250 players in the nation of all divisions,” Nicoson said.

The ‘Hounds next game of the spring season will be March 10-11 at the Minnesota State Spring Classic.

“The hardest part about NCAA Division II Championships is getting to the finals,” said Athletic Director Sue Willey.
