CPB Poetry Slam
By Stephanie Snay | Staff Writer
“In the beginning, there was pong.” Those are some of the lyrics to Panama Soweto and Ken Arkind’s opening poem at the Campus Program Board’s Poetry Slam, which featured the pair as the ‘Dynamic Duo.’ Their poems ranged from silly haikus to more serious free verse pieces with something for everyone, such as gamer lingo and even a Hogwarts haiku for their audience’s nerdy side. Though a bit crude and profane, plenty of humor was incorporated to tickle funny bones. They even showed a more serious side with poems telling the audience’s generation to stand up for what they believe. They taught them, “no matter how much of a bad ass you think you are, every little sister can beat you by simply randomly pushing buttons.”
