Lion King fans all over the world should be excited about the Broadway play now hitting Indianapolis at the Murat Theatre.

Last Friday, I was blown away by the performance. “The Lion King” had all the elements to make it one of the greatest Disney movies of all times and the play has all those elements as well.

The stage transformed into all types of different settings. One minute there would be the tree of life and the next minute it would be an elephant graveyard. The colors and dynamic of it all was truly breathtaking.

Everyone had a uniqueness to their costume that made you want to analyze the entire ensemble. It was as if the actors became the animals themselves, the way they matched the animals they were portraying was absolutely amazing.

“The Circle of Life”, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” and “I Just Can’t Wait to

Be King” was just a few of the songs that were performed. There were songs featured from the first and second film with the exception of some new original ones. All the actors sang every song beautifully. Their voices were unbelievable and touching.

Mufasa, Simba, Nala, Scar, Rafiki, Timon, Pumbaa, Zazu and everyone on stage was fabulous. They had the character down to a “T.” Some of the voices even sounded like their character in the original film.

Mufasa was powerful and represented masculinity to the fullest while Simaba’s innocence appealed to the audience as well. Scar although played the evil villain was very likable because  he was so brilliant.  Timon and Pumbaa were hilarious and complimented one another,  while Rafiki also had the auditorium filled with laughter. Oh, and lets not forget Zazu the faithful family bird,  he was definitely a crowd pleaser.  Every actor truly  embodied their character and captured the audience.

Everything about “The Lion King”  was overwhelming. I enjoyed every minute of the production.  I advice you to go enjoy this magical production and allow yourself to be swept away in the beauty of it all.
