Anathallo

It can be said that Anathallo is an acquired taste. Being a fan of their debut album Floating World, I was expecting a step back in their delivery of a new endeavor. Surely, a band cannot break so much ground and expect a repeat effort? I was pleasantly surprised with this release. This album is for those who are into acoustic rhythm, subtle vocals and melodic songwriting. Canopy Glow creeps into the ears through a unique use of compositional sound layering. Every time I pop in the album, I pick up on a different sound, giving each song a different feeling and aura. The subtle use of bells and acoustic rhythm have an attractive nature that must not be missed. Every song evolves, and the lyrics are void of anything sappy or generic. Let me say this, if you buy only one new artist this year, let it be “Canopy Glow”.
