‘Burn After Reading’

The Joel and Ethan Coen may have raked in the Oscar acclaim for last year’s poetically brutal No Country For Old Men, but true to their maverick style, they follow up that knockout of a movie with a screwball farce that’s wildly uneven, but wildly entertaining. The A-list cast transcends the uneven script wonderfully, particularly a deliciously frazzled John Malkovich, a horn-dog George Clooney, obsessed with top-notch floors and dildos. Also a lovely Frances McDormand, a hapless Richard Jenkins and an endearing Brad Pitt, hair streaked blonde and dancing jubilantly to an I-Pod only he can hear, contribute much to the cast. It certainly would be no country for film lovers without the Coens.
