Dan Brown’s latest novel, “The Lost Symbol,” is the third in a trilogy including “Angels and Demons” and “The DaVinci Code.”  “The Lost Symbol” will keep a reader on edge with tense chase scenes and a lot of “will they or won’t they” tug-of-war plotting; but it doesn’t offer much substance.  The concept is not as developed in this book as in the previous two novels, and in some chapters it seems like Brown is stretching to keep the reader interested. Although, Brown did well with plot twists and a few bombshell surprises, he mostly accomplished this by leading the reader on for many chapters at a time.  The book is rent-worthy, but I don’t recommend purchasing it; you probably won’t read it twice.
